Writing book reviewsFor several years I have been periodically running a blog entirely dedicated to book reviews. The first ones I wrote were a bit sparse, as always happens when you start writing something new. Over time they became longer and more accurate, sometimes analyzing various elements of the literary work. It is normal, since the exercise is increased and you are able to delve deeper and understand the type of text you are writing. They are not professional reviews, in the sense that I am not a literary critic nor do I want to be. I am a reader and I write what the book leaves me with. It doesn't matter that I'm reviewing a work considered a masterpiece.

If that masterpiece left me with nothing positive – as has happened several times – or even bored me, I won't write a positive review. But it will be negative from my point of view, it will therefore be subjectively negative. What to consider when reviewing a Phone Number Data book Fluidity of the narrative: does reading the novel flow? Does it manage to engage the reader? I always keep this in mind, because it is one of the first characteristics of a book that I notice. Objectivity: reviewers must be objective, but this is not always easy. Ubik is praised, but my review was only negative. The Flight of the Dragon is also considered a valid novel, even if I didn't like it very much, but I still recognized that it has its value. a> Style: analyzing the writing style can be useful for readers.

Does the author often use metaphors? Is the story rich in detail? Is it a sober or baroque writing? Is she determined and ruthless or saccharine? Characters: being able to understand how credible the characters are and whether they have been well created is one of the tasks of the reviewer and is an element to include in the review. Structure of the work: I'm talking about the subdivision of the material but also the linearity or interweaving of the plot. Of the use of flashbacks, too. Is it a novel in diary form? Are the chapters inserted as usual or has the author given a personal touch to his work? Connections with other works: sometimes I talk about some connection of the book in question with others. Not only if it is a trilogy or a saga, but also if the novel has elements in common with novels by other authors.
