One of the main tasks carried out by our environmental surveillance technicians is the census and monitoring of birdlife in the surroundings of wind farms and photovoltaic plants. The work of our guards consists of carrying out transects and establishing observation points to obtain the maximum amount of information possible about the species that reside or inhabit the study area at a certain time of the year. For an ornithology fan and nature lover such as our technician David, these days of work are especially enjoyed, as they allow you to continue learning about new species, observe behaviors that you did not know about and experience moments or scenes that are difficult.
To contemplate, if not spending many hours in Antigua and Barbuda Email List the countryside. The group of birds our technician enjoys working with the most are birds of prey. In Cuenca, the area where he currently carries out his work, raptors are very abundant and have a spectacular diversity of species. While carrying out his work he has been able to observe in a very special way species such as the Iberian imperial eagle (Aquila adalberti) or the Montagu's harrier (Circus pygargus), which are seriously threatened.
Furthermore, he tells us how he has been able to learn a lot about species such as the buzzard (Buteo buteo), the booted eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus) or the common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), three species that are very abundant in the area and that have accompanied him in many of the days of work in the field. Common kestrel, Falco tinnunculus. (Sfera Environmental Project, 2022) The Sfera Environmental Project surveillance team works daily to monitor species, since many of them are included in the List of Wild Species under Special Protection Regime, and special care must be taken to not affect their reproduction and development.
